The 2018 Developing Northern Australia Conference is almost here again and will this year be held at Alice Springs Convention Centre over Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 June.

Cr John Wharton, Mayor of the Richmond Shire Council and Cooperative Research Centre for Developing Northern Australia (CRCNA) joins us at the Conference to discuss ‘The role of partnerships in developing Northern Australia’.

Abstract

The infrastructure, services and planning guidance provided by local government support the operation of regional economies and the communities that are sustained by this economic activity.

In turn, the regions significantly support State, Territory and national economies.

The identification and prioritisation of opportunities, and the delivery of these as practical projects and services, across Northern Australia requires a partnership approach.

Collaboration across all levels of government, with the private sector, and most importantly with the communities that live in Northern Australia, is key to identifying and delivering the best support to allow communities and industries to be sustainable and to grow over the long term.
