About the Developing Northern Australia Conference

The two-day Developing Northern Australia Conference program will encompass presentations, discussions and interactive dialogues leading the way developing northern Australia. Historically, this event brings together 350-450 delegates from all over Australia to review current opportunities, challenges and outcomes for growing Northern Australia.

Key Objective – Northern Australia Agenda

The Australian Government is growing a stronger northern Australian economy through a long-term agenda of investment and support. The agenda is unlocking the region’s full economic potential as a gateway to global markets, a source of rich resources and a home to pristine environments. We are ensuring the north is an even more attractive place to live and do business.

The Our North, Our Future: White Paper on Developing Northern Australia released in 2015, sets out the priorities to drive growth in Australia’s north. It’s a 20-year plan for investment and support to grow the north through six key pillars:

  • a trade and investment gateway
  • a more diversified northern economy
  • Indigenous entrepreneurship and businesses
  • world-class infrastructure
  • water infrastructure investment
  • research and innovation
